CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa is ranked second in the "Best Regional Universities (Midwest)" category for public universities, according to the U.S. News & World Report's 2016 "America's Best Colleges" guidebook. UNI also ranked No. 18 in the overall Midwest list.

The magazine's ranking criteria include peer assessment, academic reputation, retention, faculty resources, student selectivity, graduation-rate performance and alumni giving rate.
