CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Strayer-Wood Theatre will present "November" by David Mamet at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 25 to 27 and Nov. 1 to 3, and at 2 p.m., Oct. 28 and Nov. 4, in the Strayer-Wood Theatre on the University of Northern Iowa campus.

"November" is David Mamet's over-the-top comedy that takes a satirical stab at American politics. Meet President Charles Smith, the most corrupt, inept man ever to sit in the Oval Office. It's the final days of his bid for a second term, but the country is a mess and his poll numbers are lower than ever. Toss in a lesbian speechwriter longing to marry her sweetheart on national television, a cynical chief of staff, Thanksgiving turkeys awaiting pardon, and shady backroom scheming, and you've got an ideal way to gear up for the 2012 election.

"November" is the second offering of the Strayer-Wood Theatre's 2012-2013 season, "Renewal: Uplifting the Sprit." The production is directed by Jay Edelnant, professor of theatre. Costumes are designed by Jenn Sheshko, associate professor of design and production; scenery is designed by Mark Parrott, associate professor of design and production. Lighting is designed by Josh Dirks, senior theatre design and production major; hair and make-up is designed by Benjamin Tremmel, sophomore theatre arts major. The stage manager is Sibyl Cox, junior theatre arts major.

Tickets are $16 for general admission and free for UNI students with their student ID. Tickets can be purchased from the Strayer-Wood Theatre lobby box office between noon and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The box office will also be open one hour before curtain time.
