CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Strayer-Wood Theatre will present "Dying City" by Christopher Shinn at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 23 to 25 and March 1 to 3 and at 2 p.m., Feb. 26 and March 4, inside the Strayer-Wood Theatre's Bertha Martin Theatre on the University of Northern Iowa campus.

In "Dying City," a young therapist, Kelly, whose husband Craig was killed while on military duty in Iraq, is confronted a year later by his identical twin Peter, who suspects that Craig's death wasn't accidental. Set in a downtown-Manhattan apartment after dark, scenes shift from the confrontation between Peter and Kelly, to Kelly's complicated farewell with Craig. Shinn's disturbing, sophisticated drama—infused with references to 9/11 and the war in Iraq—explores how contemporary politics and recent history have transformed the lives of these three characters.

"Dying City" is the third offering of the Strayer-Wood Theatre's 2011-2012 season, "Renewal: Emerging Beyond Struggles." The production is directed by Richard Glockner, associate professor of theatre. Costumes, hair and make-up are designed by Tori Rezek, senior design and production major; scenery was designed by Mark A. Parrott, associate professor of theatre. Lighting is designed by Ron Koinzan, theatre technical director. The stage manager is Jessi Kadolph, UNI senior drama and theatre for youth major.

Tickets are $16 for general admission and free for UNI students with their uCard. Tickets can be purchased from the Strayer-Wood Theatre lobby box office between noon and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The box office will be open one hour before curtain time.
