CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa will sponsor CLIMB Theatre, a touring, educational theatre that brings plays and classes directly to schools. CLIMB Theatre will perform from 9 to 9:45 a.m., Monday, April 23, at George Washington Carver Academy. On Tuesday, April 24, CLIMB will perform from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m., at Waterloo East High School and from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. and 2:45 to 3:15 p.m., at Cedar Falls High School. On Wednesday, April 25, CLIMB will perform from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m., at Waterloo West High School; 12:15 to 1 p.m., at Hoover Middle School; and from 5 to 5:45 p.m., at Malcolm Price Lab auditorium on the UNI campus.

The performance will look into the interactions of African-Americans, Native Americans, Latinos and Caucasians based on the concept that we are more alike than different.

"We see making CLIMB Theatre available to area schools as a way to acknowledge their contributions to our education programs over the years, while enhancing the efforts to promote K through 12 students' understanding and appreciation of the diversity they encounter everyday," said Melissa Heston, interim director of teacher education and associate professor of curriculum and instruction.

CLIMB Theatre performs plays and classes to raise awareness for topics such as bullying prevention, respect, responsibility and self-control. Productions are for K through 12 students.
