CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Department of Mathematics at the University of Northern Iowa will present the 2017 Hari Shankar Memorial Lecture at 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 31, in the Lantz Auditorium of McCollum Science Hall on the UNI campus.
This year’s lecture is titled “Fluid Adventures: Where Mathematics Meets Art” and will be presented by Rachel Levy, associate dean for faculty development and professor of math at Harvey Mudd College in California. Levy is also the vice president for education for the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, founder of the Business, Industry and Government Math Network and the blog, “Grandma got STEM.” She was a recipient of the Mathematical Association of America’s Henry L.
