UNI to offer training for pool operators, lifeguard instructors and a scuba workshop

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- University of Northern Iowa Continuing & Distance Education is accepting enrollment in its upcoming credit workshops offered at the UNI Wellness & Recreation Center aquatics program. Three workshops will be offered including Certified Pool Operators Training – NSPF, Lifeguarding Instructor Training and Open Water Scuba. Each workshop will be offered for 1 credit.

The Certified Pool Operators Training – NSPF workshop will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, May 7 through Wednesday, May 9, plus one hour arranged. The Pool Operator Certification is the most widely accepted educational program for operators and health officials in the country. All students who may work in and around pools and spas will benefit from this program.

The Lifeguarding Instructor Training workshop will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday, May 10 through Saturday, May 12, plus one hour arranged. This workshop covers American Red Cross material in Basic Water Safety, Emergency Water Safety Lifeguard Training and Lifeguard Instruction. The opportunity is available to become certified in the American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Lifeguard Instruction and Health Services Program, which is a prerequisite to becoming an instructor in any area of certification for the American Red Cross.

The Open Water Scuba workshop includes two session options: Monday, May 21 through Wednesday, May 23 or Saturday, July 14 through Monday, July 16. Both sessions are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
