UNI to host Midwest Summer Institute: Inclusion & Communication for All

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Nationally recognized and area experts on school and community inclusion and alternative communication supports will be at the University of Northern Iowa for the 2014 Midwest Summer Institute on Inclusion & Communication for All Monday and Tuesday, June 23 and 24. The event will take place in Russell Hall and will focus on inclusive schools; employment; and daily living and communication and support for people with autism spectrum disabilities and other complex communication needs.

Speakers include author Kathie Snow of Disability is Natural; Darlene Hanson, director of communication support at Whittier Area (Calif.) Association for the Developmentally Handicapped; Tracy Thresher, a self-advocate featured in the award-winning documentary "Wretches & Jabberers"; and Sue Rubin, author, self-advocate, writer, and featured in the 2004 Academy Award nominated film, "Autism is a World."
