UNI to host Funk Fest 2002

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa Department of Leisure, Youth & Human Services' (LYHS) Festivals and Special Events class will host Funk Fest 2002 at Lawther Field Sunday, April 21 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

Live bands, including Rearview Mirror, Soul Fusion, Town Crier and Hop on Jonny will perform. There also will be a basketball shootout, volleyball games, strongman competition, caricatures and various food vendors.

Immediately following the activities will be the George Clinton Parliament/Funkadelic Concert in the West Gym. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at all UNI ticket outlets, via the web at, or order by phone at (319) 273-DOME. Tickets are $18 for UNI students and $23 for the general public.
