CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa will host an electronic media workshop titled "Take Your Career to the Next Level" from 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., Friday, Oct. 16, in Lang Hall. The workshop, in its 11th year, brings together academics and media professionals and will include workshops, lunch, discussions and speakers to follow.
The Fast Forward Workshop brings working professionals to students. Interactive sessions will be offered in a variety of settings to help media students prepare for their first job. Industry experts will lead discussions on the best practices in broadcast journalism, and will help attendees polish their broadcast and production skills.
Bruce Aune, anchor and reporter at KCRG-TV, will be the keynote speaker at the 2015 Fast Forward Workshop. In May he received the Iowa Broadcast News Association's highest honor, the IBNA Jack Shelley Award.
Cost of the Fast Forward Workshop is $50 for students and $65 for professionals. Lunch is included in the cost.
