UNI to host David Delafield silent art auction

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa Gallery of Art and the UNI art department will host a silent auction of the David Delafield collection at UNI's Kamerick Art Building, located at the northeast corner of Hudson Road and W. 27th Street. Artwork will be open for viewing and bidding from Thursday through Saturday, June 21-23.

Delafield, who died in 2003, was an art professor at UNI from 1951 to 1983. His art creations spanned more than 50 years with themes that included landscapes, portraits and local landmarks. Delafield received his B.F.A., M.A. and Ph.D. from Ohio State University. In addition, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

The Gallery of Art is open from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, June 21 through June 23. Artwork will be open for viewing and bidding during this time. Bids for the silent auction, which is open to the public free of charge, close at 6 p.m., Saturday, June 23. The UNI Foundation will host a reception with refreshments and music in the lobby of Kamerick. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the UNI Gallery of Art.
