CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa's Tallgrass Prairie Center will host activities during Iowa Prairie Heritage week, Monday Sept. 8, through Sunday, Sept. 14.

A reception will take place from 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Tallgrass Prairie Center, located at 2412 W. 27th Street, Cedar Falls. There will be a brief center overview, a meet and greet with the new center director, Laura Jackson, and an announcement of the launch of Friends of the Tallgrass Prairie Center. Refreshments and optional tours of UNI's Tallgrass Prairie Preserve will be provided.

UNI's Tallgrass Prairie Center was established in 1999 as the Native Roadside Vegetation Center. It uses 65 acres of campus and leased land for native seed production plots. The name was changed on Jan. 1, 2006, to more accurately reflect its mission, programs and activities. Many of the programs are accomplished through partnerships with organizations, associations, and federal, state and local agencies.
