UNI speech team members finalists at spring tournaments

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Students on the University of Northern Iowa's Individual Events Speech Team recently were finalists at the Grace Walsh Invitational at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (UW-EC), and the Red Hawk Invitational at Ripon College. The team placed fourth out of 18 teams at UW-EC and third out of 11 teams at Ripon.

At UW-EC, Sara Gronstal, a junior from Council Bluffs, placed first in informative speaking. At the Ripon competition, she placed first in informative speaking and after-dinner speaking. At UW-EC, Amy Larsen, a senior from Ankeny, placed fourth in communication analysis and sixth in persuasive speaking. At Ripon, she placed first in persuasive speaking, third in communication analysis and fourth in impromptu speakingAt UW-EC, Danielle Dick, a junior from Dayton, placed second in after-dinner speaking and fifth in prose interpretation. At Ripon, she placed sixth in after-dinner speaking. At UW-EC Phil Rippke, a sophomore from Moville, placed sixth in extemporaneous speaking and seventh in informative speaking. At the Ripon competition, he placed sixth in communication analysis. Matt Musgrave, a sophomore from Webster City, placed fifth in communication analysis at UW-EC.
