CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa Small Business Development Center, in partnership with the Business Concierge, will host a hands-on, step-by-step, free workshop to help area businesses get their Facebook pages up and running. The workshop will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Aug. 28, at the Business and Community Services Building, Room 33, and cover how to create and maintain a new business Facebook page.

"In many ways, using Facebook has become even more important than having a website for small businesses' online marketing efforts," said Dan Beenken, director of the UNI SBDC. "The social network has 1.5 million users in Iowa, and 901 million active global users each month. Businesses can use it to promote events, engage with customers, connect with new markets, become easier to find by search engines, and increase sales - for free."

Laptops will be provided. Business owners are asked to bring files of photos, logos, flyers and other electronic marketing material that can be uploaded to their Facebook page.

The class is capped at 12 people, and pre-registration is required.
