CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa's Wellness and Recreation Services (WRS) will offer for the first time a climbing camp for youth this summer.

WRS Climbing Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, July 15, through Tuesday, July 16. The camp is open to youth ages 13 through 17. Participants will learn about bouldering and climbing techniques, tying knots, operating climbing equipment and how to belay. The camp will also focus on team building, goal setting and communications skills. No prior climbing experience is necessary.

The camp will be held at the UNI Wellness and Recreation Center (WRC). Participants will use the university's 35-foot-6-inch indoor climbing wall and will be taught by current WRC climbing wall staff.
