UNI Muslim Student Association to host Iowa Conference on Islam

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --The University of Northern Iowa will host the third annual Iowa Conference on Islam at UNI's Maucker Union, Friday, March 7 to Sunday, March 9. The conference is co-sponsored by the UNI Muslim Student Association (UNI MSA) and the Iowa Muslim Student Association.

According to Mohammed Fahmy, UNI MSA faculty advisor, 'The UNI MSA is focused on raising awareness of Islam at UNI and addressing related issues about religion and Muslims in Iowa and the United States.'

The conference is open to all Muslims and non-Muslims and is focused on 'Understanding Islam from Within.' Activities will include: lectures and workshops by local and national speakers, introductory sessions on Islam, Quaran recitations, movies and cultural exhibits and an Islamic Arts exhibition. The conference is free and babysitting will be provided.
