UNI communication studies professor receives award

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Paul Turman, University of Northern Iowa assistant professor of communication studies, recently received the Outstanding New Teacher Award from the Central States Communication Association (CSCA). The association represents communication scholars in a 13-state region. Turman received the award on April 11, at the CSCA conference in Omaha, Neb.

To be eligible for the award, nominees must be members of the CSCA and in their first five years of full-time teaching. Teachers at any level from grade school through graduate school are eligible. Nominees should also demonstrate the following in the classroom: clear goals, adequate preparation, appropriate instructional methods, significant results, presentation of instructional strategies and reflective critique.

Turman is the third member of the UNI communication studies department to receive the award.
