UNI announces food conservation event

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- "Wasted: Feed the Folks, Starve the Landfills" will be held Friday, July 12, on the University of Northern Iowa campus. This one-day event will focus on exploring innovative strategies to reduce food waste in Iowa.

Hosted by the Iowa Food Access and Health Work Group in partnership with the Iowa Waste Reduction Center (IWRC), the event will include presentations, exhibits, tours and networking opportunities.

The free event will be held at the Center for Energy and Environmental Education on the south end of the UNI campus from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.

The IWRC has provided environmental services including business assistance, industry training, and research and development, for more than 25 years. IWRC is a nonprofit organization, part of Business and Community Services at UNI.
