CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- UNI alumnus Mitch Matthews will return to campus later this month to share stories behind the start of the BIG Dream Gathering. The goal of the gathering is to encourage people to get clear on their dreams and turn them into a reality. The presentation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 27, in the Commons Slife Ballroom on UNI's campus.
Matthews (B.A. '93) co-founded the BIG Dream Gathering with his wife, Melissa Johnson-Matthews, in 2006 while going through set backs with one of their own dreams. It started when the couple invited some friends and family members to their house and encouraged everyone to write down their dreams and put them on the wall to share with everyone else. This led to multiple dreams coming true in just a matter of weeks.
What started as a "happy accident" is now an inspiring movement all over the world. Matthews now holds countless BIG Dream Gatherings to support other people to "Dream. Think. Do."
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.unialum.org/Big-Dream or contact Christina Danielsen, assistant director of alumni marketing and communications at the UNI Alumni Association, at 319-273-2355 or email@example.com.
