CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Theatre UNI will present the dramatic comedy "Mauritius" at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 27, through Saturday, March 1, and Thursday, March 6, through Saturday, March 8, in the Bertha Martin Theatre in Strayer-Wood Theatre on campus. There will be two matinee performances at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 2, and Sunday, March 9, at the same location.
"Mauritius," by Pulitzer Prize nominee Theresa Rebeck, involves two half-sisters who, after the passing of their mother, inherit a book of rare stamps that may include the "crown jewel" of the stamp-collecting world. The battle for possession takes a dangerous turn when three rival collectors enter the sisters' world, and they are plunged into a seedy underworld where everyone seems willing to cheat to get their hands on the prize.
Steve Taft, associate professor of performance, will serve as director; Mark Parrott, assistant professor of design and production, will serve as scenic designer; Amy Rohrberg, associate professor of design and performance, is in charge of costume design; Ron Koinson is in charge of lighting design; Aharon Moody, senior in theatre: design and production, will be the technical director; Matthew Weedman, assistant professor of performance, is the fight choreographer; and Jessica Geidel, junior in theatre: drama and theatre youth, is the stage manager.
The cast includes theatre majors Erica Kuhn from Waterloo; Jessica Moore from Cedar Rapids; Tad Klenske from Cedar Falls; Joseph Schoborg from Marshalltown; and Mic Evans from Cedar Rapids.
