CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Registration is now open for the management workshop "Leading with Optimism" hosted by the University of Northern Iowa Executive Development Center. The workshop is 8:30 a.m. to noon, Oct. 3, in the Business and Community Services Building on the UNI campus. The registration deadline is Sept. 26.

"Most of us believe we will achieve happiness once we become successful," said Kim Recker, program manager for the UNI Executive Development Center. "However, recent research in the field of positive psychology and neuroscience has shown that happiness contributes to success, not the other way around. When we are optimistic, our brains become more engaged, motivated, creative and productive at work."

During the workshop, instructor Deb Damge will show participants how they can reprogram their brains, become more positive and gain a competitive edge at work.

The cost is $125 per person. UNI Alumni Association members and UNI employees receive a 10-percent discount.
