Recruitment underway for UNI talent search program

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa's Educational Talent Search   Program (ETS) is conducting recruitment for students in the Waterloo Community School District. ETS is a college preparatory program that is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and serves 1,265 students in Waterloo.

All sixth-grade through 12th-grade students in the Waterloo Community School District who may be lacking resources to prepare for postsecondary education, and plan on attending college after high school graduation are eligible for the program. Two-thirds of the participants in ETS must be both low-income students and first-generation college-bound students.

ETS staff provides homework and study skill assistance; ACT test preparatory workshops; career planning and job shadowing; information on postsecondary education; assistance finding and applying for scholarships; college tours; and assistance with college admissions and financial aid applications.
