CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa Textiles and Apparel Program (TAPP) will hold its 21st annual fashion show, "POW: A Superhero Catwalk," at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 27, in Lang Hall Auditorium on the UNI campus.

All students enrolled in TAPP classes this academic year were encouraged to design and construct original garments for the show. All entered pieces had to be produced in the past two years and were juried by Stephanie Fett and Holly Humke, both TAPP alumni currently working for Powers Manufacturing in Waterloo, Iowa. Garments were chosen for the runway based on details such as construction, creativity and trend sensitivity. Students were also responsible for promotion, stylization, set design, choreography and music for the show.

This year's theme is based on classic comic book stories, the popularity of current comic book revivals into film and the artwork of Roy Lichtenstein, an American pop artist. The show takes these components and creates a superhero comic book runway show.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Annette Lynch, professor in the School of Applied Human Sciences, at 319-273-3054 or annette.lynch@uni.edu
