The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, announced the selection of William N. Ruud (ROOD) as the 10th president of the University of Northern Iowa. Ruud currently serves as president of Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania.
"We're very pleased to have Dr. Ruud named as the next president of UNI," said Farzad Moussavi, Presidential Search and Screen Committee co-chair. "Dr. Ruud will bring years of presidential experience to UNI. While visiting UNI, he received strong support from the campus and the community. He also was uniformly endorsed by various constituent groups that have worked with him in his capacity as president. The search committee was unanimous in its decision to advance his name for the Board of Regents' consideration."
"We want to thank all of the members of the search committee for their tireless efforts, and the many hundreds of people on campus and in the Cedar Valley who actively participated in the process and provided invaluable input, insight and feedback," said Mark Oman, Presidential Search and Screen Committee co-chair.
Ruud will assume the duties of UNI president on June 1 and will be paid an annual salary of $340,000. The date for an official welcoming on the UNI campus will be announced later.
