CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The Northern Iowa Food and Farm Partnership is hosting a variety of events in the coming months.

The Grundy County Farm Crawl will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 12. Farms on the tour include Fleshner Farms in Reinbeck, Cracked Up Farm in Reinbeck and ARNKA Acres in Dike. There will be activities for kids, along with the opportunity to see how local farms grow the food you eat.

The Cedar Valley Cyclists are sponsoring the Cedar Valley Farm Ride (CVFR) on Saturday, Sept. 26. The CVFR is a "farm crawl" on bikes beginning and ending at the Riverloop Public Market in downtown Waterloo. Riders can choose a 20-mile or 50-mile trail ride. Destinations include Three Pines Farm, Cedar Falls Farmers Market and Hansen's Dairy Farm.

The 2015 Farm to Fork Harvest Celebration will take place throughout Buchanan County Sunday, Sept. 27. Take self-guided tours of four different local food businesses including Winthrop Locker, Timeless Prairie Orchard, Short Brothers and TD 'n' Guy Oasis from 1 to 4 p.m., followed by a local-food dinner at Independence Junior High School.

Lastly, the Northern Iowa Food and Farm Partnership (NIFFP) will have its November meeting from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the Waterloo Center for the Arts. There will be a catered local-food dinner, along with networking and a guest speaker.

These events are part of the educational efforts to strengthen the local food economy in the region and are supported in part of the University of Northern Iowa, ISU Extension Region 9 and Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture.
