Iowa's accomplishments in STEM to be featured at EPSCoR Annual All-Hands Meeting

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa will host the 2013 Iowa EPSCoR (Experimental Program on Stimulate Competitive Research) Annual All-Hands Meeting Monday, July 22, through Tuesday, July 23. The meeting will be held in UNI's Maucker Union. All Iowa EPSCoR faculty, staff and students are invited to attend.

Meeting participants will share progress, highlight scientific and broader-impact accomplishments, and feature student research posters. Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds will provide a keynote address showcasing Iowa's accomplishments in STEM and workforce development at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, July 23.

A panel discussion will follow the keynote address. The panel includes Rob Denson, president of Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC); Lisa Lorenzen, executive director of the Iowa State University Research Foundation (ISURF); Craig Just, University of Iowa; and Brent Shanks, Iowa State University.

In addition to speakers, a student poster competition is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m., Tuesday, July 23. The competition is open to students currently enrolled in or affiliated with any Iowa high school, community college, four-year college, or university, and it provides an opportunity to showcase their current completed research.
