CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Exporting can be profitable and contribute to fast-growing sales for a small business. The Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) in Iowa, with support from the University of Northern Iowa's Small Business Development Center, will introduce small-business owners to the steps to exporting their products and services during a free "Exporting 101" seminar from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Sept. 18, at the University of Northern Iowa Small Business Development Center, 8120 Jennings Dr. Cedar Fall, Iowa.

This free seminar is open to the public and includes discussions led by Debbie Franklin, International Trade Center Director with Iowa SBDC, on market development, international trade finance, global logistics and available resources such as Export-Import Bank, Small Business Administration Export finance options, U.S. Commercial Services and Iowa’s State Trade and Iowa’s Export Promotion (STEP) grant. 

Franklin has served Iowa businesses since May 2011 in the area of export development, collaborating with SBDC regional counselors all across the state to provide service, support, and trade-related information to export clients.  She holds the National Association of Small Business International Trade Educators’ Certified Global Business Professional credential and serves on the board for International Traders of Iowa.

Iowa’s Small Business Development Centers are an outreach program of Iowa State University's College of Business. Partially funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the organization has 15 regional assistance centers located strategically across the state. Since program's inception in 1981, the centers have helped hundreds of thousands of Iowa businesses and entrepreneurs through individual, professional counseling and affordable training.
