CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa will host UNI Day at the Statehouse from noon to 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 19, at the Iowa Capitol in Des Moines. The event is an educational opportunity to highlight UNI's impact across the state of Iowa by showcasing programs, services, students and alumni.

UNI is known for Educating Iowans for Iowa™:

- 90% of UNI's students are from Iowa.

- The vast majority of UNI students from Iowa remain in the state to work or continue their education after graduating.

- Half of UNI's non-resident students stay in Iowa after graduation, making the university a talent pipeline.

- 99% of the state's school districts, in all 99 counties, employ UNI educators.

An affordable education is critical to the vitality of Iowa's economy and workforce. The trend of UNI students taking less time to graduate and earn their degree continues for a fourth year. And, breaking away from national trends, UNI has seen its average student loan indebtedness decrease by 13% over the past seven years. UNI provides students with real-world, hands-on experience enabling students to not only find a job after graduation, but to be able to start making an impact from day one.

At UNI Day at the Statehouse, students, faculty and staff will showcase interactive displays highlighting various UNI programs, departments and organizations. Alumni are encouraged to attend to reconnect with their university and speak with their elected officials about the value of UNI.
