CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The second-year Presidential Scholars in the University of Northern Iowa Honors Program will host the groundbreaking of the Panther Plot, a student-run vegetable garden on campus, at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, April 11, at the corner of College Street and University Avenue.

"The UNI Panther Plot garden on UNI's campus will be a living, education tool that will improve the community's understanding of gardening, their health and the local food system," said Rachel Wobeter, program assistant at the Center for Energy and Environmental Education. "UNI's commitment to the garden is a step in the right direction to improving the well-being of students and the community."

The event is hosted in part by the CEEE, UNI Office of Sustainability, Botanical Center, Department of Residence Dining Services, Facilities Services and first-year Cornerstone course.
