CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Cloud Cult, an experimental chamber rock band from the Midwest, will perform at the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center as part of the HANDPICKED music series at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 4, on the University of Northern Iowa campus.
Cloud Cult is an independent band that has sold more than 100,000 albums via their own label, Earthology Records, which was created by lead singer and songwriter Craig Minowa. Cloud Cult has been involved in the eco-friendly movement, helping co-develop the now-popular recycled paperboard CD cases while also creating models for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions for touring bands.
Along with their eco-friendly practices, Cloud Cult is known for having philosophical and spiritual lyrics. Their live show features two painters whose art is auctioned off at the end of the night. Along with painters, Cloud Cult's shows feature a full band complete with violin, cello, trumpet, trombone and French horn.
Ticket prices for the Cloud Cult performance are $25 and can be purchased at any UNItix location, at www.gbpac.com/CloudCult or by calling 319-273-4849. UNI students must bring their school ID to the Gallagher Bluedorn box office to receive their free ticket.
